This seminar shows you how
to plan a search function in MOSS 2007 and use taxonomies and metadata to enhance information retrieval.
The seminar is designed to help taxonomists, information architects, web site editors, and content managers develop a MOSS 2007 implementation plan for optimizing search, at both the enterprise and department level.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
At the end of the seminar, you should be able to:
Plan a MOSS 2007 architecture that serves the needs of both enterprise and departmental search;
Use a metadata management system to customize Sharepoint search;
Evaluate third-party applications that enhance Sharepoint search;
Create a system of metrics to measure search effectiveness and better support site owners, editors, and authors.

• How to refine search with keywords, synonyms, Best Bets, and definitions
DAY 2: HOW TO INTEGRATE MOSS 2007 SEARCH WITH OTHER TOOLS
Section 4: Taxonomies & metadata
• How to map metadata for use in advanced search
• How to create a MOSS 2007 "thesaurus" file for query expansion & relevancy ranking
• How to use a custom Web Part to add a true thesaurus capability to the Best Bets feature
• Third party taxonomy management systems for MOSS 2007
Section 5: Using MOSS 2007 with other search systems
• Search engines that can crawl Sharepoint content
• "Federated" search

programmer, and journalist. She has been developing and conducting seminars
on cutting edge information topics since the early 1980's.
